Erica A. Nabers, LAC of North Port Acupuncture is now part of the Veterans Affairs Community Care Network (VACCN). The VA’s use of acupuncture for veteran health, a recognized Complementary & Integrative Health (CIH) approach for pain (especially with Battlefield Acupuncture), PTSD, and other conditions, Acupuncture helps by releasing endorphins, improving blood flow, and calming pain centers, offering a non-drug option for chronic issues.
What Acupuncture Means for Veterans
- Integrated Care: Acupuncture is part of the VA’s Whole Health system, used alongside traditional care for various conditions.
- Pain Management: Primarily used for pain relief, including chronic pain, often using the quick-acting Battlefield Acupuncture (BFA) on the ear.
- Other Conditions: Also used for PTSD (reducing nightmares, anxiety), improving sleep, and boosting energy.
- How it Works: Needles stimulate the body to release natural pain relievers (endorphins), calm the brain, and improve healing.
